It’s an awesome shot and tells a great story. Without reading the caption, the photo tells its own story and is open to interpretation. The low camera angle gives the subject (adorable super dog) a sense of power and dominance. I just love that the dog is wearing a chevron cape, not only a superhero but a trendy one at that! There are only three colors used in this composition (blue, white and black) which give it a minimalist look. Be sure to check out @bordernerd’s gallery, she is super talented in dog training and photography!
- @oquayon why he chose @bordernerd's photo (left) for this week's WEEKEND WEBSTAPICK
Weekend Webstapicks are special because we give past Webstapick winners a chance to choose a winner.
This week’s Guest Picker, Oscar Kayzak(@oquay), is an Art Director for a Print & Digital Agency in Montreal, Quebec (Canada).
Let’s get to know him more!
More About Our Guest Picker
1. What/who inspires you?
My wife. She’s a college teacher who, after putting our 2-year-old twins to bed, spends every night prepping for her classes. She tries improving her material looking for examples and exercises to make her classes more exciting for the students. She’s a perfectionist in her own way and makes a difference in these kids lives. She inspires them and makes learning fun. I can’t wait to attend one of her classes some day.
2. What kind of photos/videos do you like to take?
I don’t have a specific style of photography or subject matter really. I look for great lighting and lines, whether geometric or organic. I shoot scenes of my everyday life in Montreal, cities I visit and my twin daughters from time to time. I’m a bit of a perfectionist.
3. Do you have any favorite Instagrammers?
That’s gotta be one of the toughest questions to ask an IGer. Like asking what’s your favorite food. It’s impossible to answer with just one… ok steak! I have a few favorites, such as @safesolvent (one of my faves since I joined IG and actually motivated me to get into it), @jmsuarez, @jnsilva, @jasonpeterson, @slowjam98 and many more. They’re all super unique and talented photographers and I respect each one of them. They strive to get that perfect shot with the perfect lighting, composition, lighting, symmetry/asymmetry and subject.
4. Do you have any favorite photo or video editing apps?
VSCOcam. Best photo editing software. Hands down.
5. Are you part of any photo community on Instagram?
I can’t say that I am, although I do participate in daily challenges in various communities.
While Webstapick winners are chosen across entries with the hashtag #WEBSTAPICK, Guest Pickers are selected by us. Get more familiar by joining our community.
